I’ve only been chatting here cos we didn’t have so many members, and I thought it was better for new people to arrive and see communication going on. What do you think? I think we should have a ‘chatty’ room that all new people join, so people can introduce themselves and have informal chats. Shall we do that in #random? Or make another room? Or maybe we just leave #general as chatty, and have an #announcements room? I don’t want to be too strict about telling people what to do, but if people feel we’ll be more productive if we have some informal ‘rules’, I’m cool with that. I guess @vukovinski was thinking about this in #best-practices? We should make a better introduction about the slack, and tell people to join or make new chans for their projects? Thoughts?

great citation. but how do you make the transition to “genetic disposition”? my interpretation would not need genes:

  1. the cause of hostility and violence is a lack of empathy and understanding of each other.
  2. if both enemies could instantly understand each others sorrows, they would not be enemies anymore. ( that leads me more to the idea of connecting our minds, than to overcome our genes)
    but i would go a step further:
  3. the cause of being hostile against fellow human beings lies in the secret history of sorrow and suffering every human being endured.
  4. sorrow and suffering is the consequence of violence others did to us. we only reproduce the violence we learned. the violence against others is the violence that is once done to us.
  5. our history of violence, pain and sorrow destroyed our empathy for other peoples (history of) sorrow, because it is normal to us. ( we endured pain ourselves so why should anybody be allowed to complain and not accept it as normal as well? we don´t want to have empathy, because it would be painful, again)
  6. violence and hostility of the human species is a generational chain. it has nothing to do with genes, that we inflict pain on each other, but just with what we have painfully learned from others.

Look, everyone, at what Moriarty is doing. He has his agenda and he won’t let people go until he gets from them what he wants. To get what he wants, he is spamming them, attacking their weak spots, and being horribly provocative. He tries to manipulate people into doing what he thinks they should be doing. If people reject his suggestions, he’s putting them down more and more, pointing out their apparent flaws. Finally, he will even make threats, which can be safely ignored however.

But worst of all: You will get little value out of people like him, while they are wasting your time. There is a reason I keep him in this forum: It’s for you to learn to deal with toxic people like Moriarty. His name is not an accident. Moriarty is a super villain, and he will haunt you – unless you ignore him. You should not feed trolls. And you should especially not feed super trolls like Moriarty. He’s so good that he even manages to waste the time of people like @zanthia, @David_Pearce, and me. That’s astounding. He has some serious skills. He is an edge troll. A person surfing the edge between being an obvious troll, and being actually useful. You won’t see him stray to either side often. He plays with the hopes of people to get some value from him, until they get tired of him – but then it’s already too late: He will have wasted so much time for so little in return.

If you learn to deal with Moriarty, you can learn to be truly strong and victorious. There is a simple reason why I keep Moriarty in Fractal Future:
