This week I was watching the 90s film Cold Fever, a surreal but surprisingly sweet film about a Japanese salaryman’s strange and epic journey across Iceland. It’s a film I’ve previously only caught pieces of and long been intrigued by because one of the key ‘characters’ is an old Citroen DS.
Also been listening to the music of Freeworm which I’ve been considering using as soundtrack for a documentary project I’ve been working on showcasing the build of an open source house and lifestyle.
Cool, thanks for sharing that @Eric_Hunting, and welcome to the Fractal Future Forum!
Last week I had some sleep disturbances and used the nights to watch the epic vampire anime series Hellsing Ultimate (which is apparently a 10 episode OVA). I haven’t watched the original Hellsing series.
I’m going to go ahead and say you should see everything by Stanley Kubrick, especially 2001. But of course, everyone already knew this.
Musically you may listen to the Flobots, although they’re definitely excessive on the propaganda. I’m also quite fond of “We are Scientists”, “Black Rebel Motorcycle Club” and “Death Cab For Cutie”. (I’m only listing what you aren’t likely listening)
Cage the Elephant are tryhard but they succeed too.
Wow, great to see you suddenly post in here, Lewis!
And cool to read some bands that I’ve never heard about. Will check them out in time!
I’ve been recently watching a fancy anime from the 90s: Visions of Escaflowne
The first episodes are not so great, but it quickly gets better. It has mechs and beautiful fantasy cities and destiny alteration science stuff.
I kinda have the impression that this music sometimes can make me more productive:
perhaps even more creative:
this movie changed my life:
how to rewrite the end of dogville? is there a solution without violence? what is the problem of dogville?
I’ve been watching the Disney cartoon series Gravity Falls lately
Copyright protection is quite annoying, but it seems that reaction videos on distorted versions of the original have a long half-life.
Is Gravity Falls an anime? No, but it’s a surprisingly well-made cartoon about mysteries, mythical creatures, paranormal activities, and kid’s relationships. Also, it’s quite funny. The characters are developed nicely, and almost all of them have their secrets. And the villains are awesome! The show has a lovely intro. Gravity Falls thrives on continuity and a plot arc that gets really, even scarily dense and captivating in the second season. That season also proves that it’s not just a show for kids, but a phenomenon that can be enjoyed by everyone. Sometimes there are also visitors from the future.
MR. ROBOT
one of the best tv shows i watched since a very long time. the official trailer lets it look like it’s just about hacking and criticism of society and the money-system. but its more, it’s as much about psychological issues and mindfucks. this aspect is being covered up better in a non-official trailer (yet without spoilers), so i put up both. really recommend the show.

Some more great background music to enjoy while doing something completely different:
Find the craziness in engineering from me, Mehdi Sadaghdar, but don’t try them at home…
ElectroBOOM is a Guy on YouTube who builds different things out of electronical parts, while gets constantly shocked or burned etc.
Sometimes you can learn something, because he shows, how things are not to be done!
It’s kind of a immature humor but well, whatever floats your boat.
My favorite song these days. I love the lyrics.
I’ve recently become interested in Chinese / Asian mythology. Journey to the West is a big Chinese classic that inspired more recent cultural works, such as the Dragonball mangas and animes.
This “Journey to the West” series is kinda trashy, but it’s still fun to watch how Chinese visualize their own ancient mythology.
Indrobot: Probably about 50%

A little overwhelming, probably because I have plenty
As a semi-solution to anyone overwhelmed in their own collection, for those that don’t want to risk feeling like they have to click through all of these links or feel like they might be tempted to download lots more from further curiosity, please take just 1 link from me and occasionally listen in to what I’m listening to ! Try again later if it’s not your thing as it’s on most of the day and I’m listening to it too! Join me on an adventure… and ear ache… a type of togetherness either way!..
