I’ve stumbled upon IPFS, the InterPlanetary File System that is supposed to revolutionize the way the web works. It looks like a good idea. However there seem to be all kinds of competing technologies, for example the SAFE Network and Ceptr. It’s not clear to me which of those technologies will or even should win in the end, or if any of those technologies will actually become widely adopted.
This is something we should definitely keep an eye on. In the future we should host the Fractal Future Network on a decentralized basis, so that if something happens to the hosting platform (or person), we don’t need to restore everything from backups (if there are even backups).
