I’ve just read the document Attention Economies for the Web 3.0 written by maciek@maciejolpinski.com, @maciejolpinski
It describes why attention economical considerations are becoming increasingly important in the future. Industrial capitalism is compared to the attention economy. Finally, the basis of an open and decentralized attention economy system is presented.
Turns out that it’s reasonable to assume that people will be paid for directing their attention towards some content on the decentralized web! This has similarities to the systems that are used by innovative social networks like Tsu and Synereo.
This document looks quite significant. I think it could be enhanced nicely by using attention flux currencies instead of Bitcoins. The system also seems to fit nicely into my Netec sci-fi setting.
What do you think? It the document seminal, or is it flawed?
