Speaking of knowing the dichotomy between different words. I find the younger generations have lazily shortened the words autobiography and biography to one word: bio. They lazily do this instead of saying bio and autobio in appropriate situations. For example, most people on online chat rooms, which consists of mostly younger generations, have people saying bio in a way that shows they are too lazy to say autobio about their profile information. So, grammar has become a joke to them. Only saying bio lazily instead of autobio and bio for appropriate situations is a grammatical error. Autobiography and biography exist because they mean different things. So, the logical conclusion is to shorten them to two words: autobio and bio. The logical conclusion is to say them during appropriate situations. Most people do not excel in learning and understanding about language very much, though. Multilingual people are rare enough as it is. It is hard to create a society of people who are mostly logical that use words properly, too. Most people have I.Q’s lower than 100. So, I am not surprised when people do not say words correctly. Especially when they say memoir or autobiography incorrectly. That is why salespeople usually sell people products with short words without much riddles. Because most people have shorter attention spans and I.Q’s lower than 100 compared to very focused geniuses who thoroughly study language while not having a problem saying big words. These same geniuses have an easier time figuring out riddles than normal people. So, it comes as no surprise to me when memoirs and autobiographies are said incorrectly.
